WHAT TO EXPECT
AT FAITH UNITED CHURCH

Celebration Dinner - 2009So you're thinking about visiting with us at Faith United Church? Great! We would love to meet you in person. We know that visiting a new place can be a little intimidating and we want to share some information with you to help you and your family have a good visit.

WHAT KIND OF CHURCH IS THIS?
Sometimes we wonder ourselves! Just kidding...

Actually, that's the first question most people ask when getting ready to visit a church and it is an important one. Faith United is first and foremost a CHRISTIAN Church. We're made Worship Celebration - 2009up of people who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior, or are seeking answers about Him.

Secondly, we are a Baptist Church (but please don't let that scare you). We are a  Baptist Church in that the Ordinance of Baptism is part of the way we do things. Baptism is the ceremony of immersing a person who has received Jesus Christ as their Savior in water. It symbolizes the spiritual cleansing that we believe Jesus gives us at the moment of Salvation.

Finally, we are a working Church. we strongly believe Jesus intends for us to represent Him by being good neighbors and helping out in our community where ever we can. We're not into flashy production, and we'll probably never build a bigger building. We just want to spread the Gospel by showing God's love where ever He lets us.

Pastor Steve WoodHOW DO PEOPLE DRESS?
Yep, that's usually the second question people ask when getting ready to visit a church. We completely understand! Visiting a new place is weird enough without sticking out because you're not dressed the way everyone else is. Relax. That's not going to happen at Faith United. When we say, "come as you are," we really mean it! We encourage people to dress in the way they are most comfortable. For some, this means a suit and a tie, while others are more inclined to wear jeans and a t-shirt. While we ask that folks dress modestly and in good taste, whatever style you choose is completely up to you. If we  had a dress code it would be: "please wear clothes."

On Sunday, July 25 we were blessed by a special song from Caleb, Isaac and Mallory Wood. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO.

On Sunday, August 1 we Worshiped with semi-acoustic music and the result was a nice, relaxed Worship Celebration that seems to have been just what we needed. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO.

Worship Celebration - 2010WHAT STYLE IS THE WORSHIP SERVICE?
There it is - the third most commonly asked question. In answering this, we're not trying to be cute or tricky, but we really like to avoid categories when it comes to the way we Worship at Faith United Church. We have a live band and a lot of Sundays our music is loud and full of energy. Other Sundays we dig into our heritage and use some of the old-school hymns of the Church. Sometimes we mix styles, or use updated versions of old songs. We also use a lot of prayer, Scripture reading, video, PowerPoint, and anything else we can think of to help us Worship in a way that we hope honors Jesus Christ.

HOW LONG IS THE SERVICE?
Our Worship Celebration begins about 11:00am and concludes by 12:15pm on most Sundays.

WHAT ABOUT THE SERMON?
Pastor Steve's sermons are expository in style, which simply means he lets the Bible speak for itself, and uses a variety of stories, video clips, and other multi-sensory experiences to apply the truth to modern life. They are usually about 30 minutes in length and less painful than a root canal..
