What to Expect

So you're thinking about visiting with us at Faith United Church? Great! We would love to meet you in person. We know that visiting a new place can be a little intimidating and we want to share some information with you to help you and your family have a good visit.

Celebration Dinner - 2009WHAT KIND OF CHURCH
IS THIS?

Sometimes we wonder ourselves! Just kidding... That's usually the first question people ask when getting ready to visit a church. Faith United is first and foremost a CHRISTIAN Church. We're made up of people who have accepted Jesus Chist as their Savior. Secondly, we are a Baptist Church, but please don't let that scare you! We are a Baptist Church simply because the Ordinance of Baptism is part of the way we do things. Baptism is Worship Celebration - 2009the ceremony of immersing a person who has received Jesus Christ as their Savior in water. It symbolizes the spiritual cleansing that we believe Jesus gives us at the moment of Salvation.

HOW DO PEOPLE DRESS?
Yep, that's usually the second question people ask when getting ready to visit a church. We completely understand! Visiting a new place is weird enough without sticking out because you're not dressed the way everyone else is. Relax. That's not going to happen at Faith United. When we say, "come as you are," we really mean it! We encourage people to dress in the way they are most comfortable. For some, this means a suit and a tie, while others are more inclined to wear jeans and a t-shirt. While we ask that folks dress modestly and in good taste, whatever style you choose is completely up to you. If we  had a dress code it would be: please wear clothes.

WHAT STYLE IS THE WORSHIP SERVICE?
There it is - the third most commonly asked question. In answering this, we're not trying to be cute or tricky, but we really like to avoid categories when it comes to the way we Worship at Faith United Church. We have a live band and a lot of Sundays our music is loud and full of energy. Other Sundays we dig into our heritage and use some of the old-school hymns of the Church. Sometimes we mix styles, or use updated versions of old songs. We also use a lot of prayer, Scripture reading, video, PowerPoint, and anything else we can think of to help us Worship in a way that we hope honors Jesus Christ.

HOW LONG IS THE SERVICE?
Our Worship Celebration begins about 11:00am and concludes by 12:15pm on most Sundays.

Pastor Steve WoodWHAT ABOUT THE SERMON?
Pastor Steve's sermons are expository in style, which simply means he lets the Bible speak for itself, and uses a variety of stories, video clips, and other multi-sensory experiences to apply the truth to modern life. They are usually about 30 minutes in length and less painful than a root canal..

Children's Worship - 2009WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
We are very pleased to offer "The Fish & Loaf Co.," a high-energy, kid-friendly, age-appropriate time of Children's Worship for those age 4 - grade 5. Your kids will start out in Worship with the rest of us and then have the option of going to F & L Co., about halfway through.
PARENTS PLEASE NOTE - Your child's participation in this ministry is completely optional and up to you as parents. Of course they are welcome to take part, but if they want to stay in Worship with you, that's just fine with us!
